Sustainability and Ethical Sourcing

At Mmoire, we believe luxury rhymes with responsibility. Each fragrance we create carries the weight of memory, and with it, a duty to the future.

We focus on producing in small quantities and launching at a slow, intentional pace, because we don’t believe in trends. We believe in the timeless, in quality over quantity, and in taking the time to get each detail just right.

Our dedication to sustainability and ethical practices is woven into every aspect of our creation process, from sourcing to final formulation. It isn’t a footnote in our process; it’s the framework that holds it all together.

Ethical sourcing rooted in regulation

Every natural material that finds its way into a Mmoire fragrance complies with the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). Before sourcing, each botanical is cross-checked against the CITES list to ensure its preservation status is respected. By 2024, 100% of our natural raw materials were verified as non-CITES species. Additionally, we prioritise partnerships with local and regional suppliers, reducing transport emissions and supporting small-scale agricultural systems.

Our ingredient partners also follow the latest European Union REACH regulations and IFRA (International Fragrance Association) standards, ensuring that both environmental safety and skin compatibility are built into every formulation from the beginning.

Fabrication

Mmoire’s “ateliers de production” partners are experts in traditional savoir-faire while embracing modern environmental standards. These ateliers, some with over two centuries of heritage in fragrance and flavour, operate under globally recognised quality management systems. Our primary facilities are certified under ISO 9001:2015, ensuring rigorous quality control and traceability at every step. They are also BRC CP (British Retail Consortium Consumer Products) certified, an advanced benchmark for product safety and hygiene in cosmetic and fragrance manufacturing.

These certifications aren’t just symbolic. In 2024 alone, our partners achieved over 99.5% batch conformity to regulatory and sensory standards. There were zero non-compliance findings in third-party audits. Wastewater usage was reduced by 28% across our main production site, and over 30% of total energy used was sourced from renewable power. All in all, they favour small-batch manufacturing, hand-finishing techniques, and traceable supply chains, and that is all we expect at Mmoire.

Packaging & assembly

As a young, independent brand, we are transparent about the compromises we sometimes face. Our packaging is currently produced in China, with a trusted supplier who adheres to European labour standards and delivers the high-quality, precision craftsmanship we require for a luxury product. The paper used is both recycled and FSC certified, and while we continue to seek local alternatives, quality remains non-negotiable for us. Every detail must be perfect, because that’s what our creations deserve.

Once packaging is complete, each product is assembled by hand in the Netherlands, in collaboration with Spaarne Werkt, a company that supports individuals with a distance to the labour market. For us, this partnership goes far beyond operational logistics. It’s about creating opportunities, empowering people, and grounding our growth in positive social impact.

At Mmoire, sustainability is not a campaign. It is the quiet, consistent work behind the scenes that shapes every story we tell, every bottle we fill, and every memory we hope to leave behind.
